Homemade Tomato Soup & Bread
We hit our 5th winter in Utah this week 😂😂 So we are craving a cozy comfort meal. If you are too look no further! Todays blog serves up two delicious recipes for classic tomato soup, perfect for dipping warm, homemade bread. Get ready to elevate your next meal with simple, step-by-step instructions.
The Recipe
INGREDIENTS
5 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 28 ounce can tomatoes
1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
1 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
Sauté the onions and garlic in butter. Season with salt and pepper
Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken stock. Stir to combine. Cover the pot and bring to a boil,
then reduce heat and let simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes.
Purée the soup with an immersion blender. Or carefully in a standard blender. Add more broth
as need for consistency. Finish by adding in heavy cream.
Ladle into bowls
Top with freshly cracked pepper, basil, and of course, serve with our homemade bread or grilled
cheese sandwiches
Aunt Juju's Homemade Bread
INGREDIENTS
8 1/2 cups bread flour
2 tsp salt
5 tsp SAP instant yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup softened butter
3 1/2 hot tap water
DIRECTIONS
1. Start mixing all ingredients except water
2. After mixing has begun add hot tap water
3. Mix about 10 minutes with bread attachment
4. Remove dough and form a ball, spray bowl and put the ball back in
5. Cover and let rise until it reaches the top of bowl, Approx 25 minutes
6. Punch down
7. Separate and form 3 loaves
8. Spray pans and let dough rise while oven preheats, about 15 minutes
9. Preheat oven to 350
10. Bake for 25 minutes
